What a proper door job looks like

A composite door is only ever as good as its specification and its fitting. The specification should name the manufacturer and style, state the glass design, grade the cylinder (TS007 3-star or equivalent) and confirm PAS 24 construction. The fitting should include a measured survey, disposal of the old door, sealing and trimming inside and out, and a written guarantee, ten years being the industry norm.

Our advice before hiring anyone, including through this site: confirm public liability insurance, insist on the itemised written quote, ask to see a fitted door on a house like yours, and get the guarantee terms on paper. A firm that baulks at any of those four is telling you something.
